Amidst Victoria BC, Canada’s music scene is a jazz singer-songwriter, Heather Ferguson. Ferguson’s newest song, “Ghost City” is just one of the exciting, upbeat musical masterpieces the artist has written and performed. After over ten years of songwriting, she has recently begun recording and performing alongside Victoria’s most talented musicians. Music has played a vital role throughout Ferguson’s life, with jazz penetrating her life with joy. Only later did that passion come to realization– making music has become second nature. Beginning in Summer, 2024 Ferguson takes her career one step further by releasing one song a month until her second album in 2025.

“Ghost City” was released on June 20th, 2024 with Attila Fias on Piano, Scott White on drums, Damian Graham on drums, and Miguelito Valdes on flugelhorn, congas, and scraper. “Ghost Town” is exactly the groovy tune you’d expect from a jazz album, yet the classic sound is refreshing coming from such talented musicians. Lyrically, Ferguson takes listeners around Everglade City in Florida, showing its compelling and tumultuous history. The song’s melodic vibe is a perfect pair to Fergusons’ singing, it is evident that she was inspired by Everglade, Florida’s flora and fauna. Ferguson’s vocals are not to be missed and her ability to tell a story in a four-minute song only keeps listeners looking forward to her next releases.
