Alex Kate’s newest single “Lost Soldier” is an ode to the men who have been told to keep their internal battles to themselves. Alex Kate is a powerful and vocally talented nostalgic pop singer, songwriter, and producer. “Lost Soldier” was released July 5th with the help of LA pianist Ty Rex and producer Daniel Newcombe. Kate was inspired to write this song by the men she has come across who have struggled with mental health issues. The footage accompanying “Lost Soldier” was filmed in South Africa after a series of coincidental events that led to Kate working with a local band to film the video. Having been compared to Kate Bush throughout her career, “Lost Soldier” captures exactly that vibe.

The song opens with a mysterious, low drum beat similar to the music accompanying a soldier marching into war. Kate’s soft and ethereal vocals accompany this slow, yet exciting drum beat, a stark contrast to the initial ‘tough’ vibe of the song. A combination of piano, drums, timpani, strings, and electric guitars creates an inspirational melody. While most of the song is simply Kate’s voice, drums, and a background vocal track, “Lost Soldier” has the sound of a whole, well-produced soundtrack with Kate’s vocals shining through the melody. Lyrically, Kate talks to a “Little Soldier” and the tone of her voice inspires a motivational feeling throughout the song.
