Each Measure Feature: Sparkle Glitch

“Battle Maiden” is a 2024 release by artist Sparkle Glitch. Sparkle Glitch hails from Los Angeles, California. She worked with Macro Music to produce this particular EP. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Battle Maiden, especially because I am fond of experimental music when it is done skillfully.

I can picture so many different ways for Sparkle Glitch's music to be incorporated into different projects using various approaches. I think that when an artist comes up with such a uniquely enjoyable sound that includes concepts like this, then it kind of screams to be used in unique and fun ways. I really picture comic cons playing her music in the future, and I am sure she will have plenty of fanboys in no time.

“Battle Maiden” begins with the self-titled track. What I first noticed was the depth of the music, thanks to the arrangement of the instrumentals and vocals. At one point in the song, there is a transition in the music that makes it feel like the “battle” has begun. This is experimental at its best. The second track is titled “Utopia.” This song has more of a gritty depth to it than I found it transitioning flawlessly into a smoother sound. All of this did well to complement some truly beautiful vocals.

Next, “Bluebird” is a beautifully haunting song with lyrics I found to be touching and very uplifting. The fourth song of this EP is “Boy I Never Knew.” I caught myself thinking, “I have never heard anything like this,” and “This sounds like techno fairy music.” As I said before, this is very enjoyable music to listen to. After this is “Immortal Dryad.” This song left me amazed by the way such different sounds could be mixed in a way to produce a sound that ultimately is so damn beautiful and alluring.

The final track of this release is “Elemental.” This song begins strong with deep bass and continues into what I thought was the most powerful-sounding song of them all. I know a few people who are going to be excited just from finding out about the artist herself, then happy to hear the music she produces. I was a fast fan of Sparkle Glitch, and I sincerely cannot wait to hear what she produces next!
