Emerging from the hills of San Fransisco, Said Sara’s latest single “Then There You Are” is an emotional, dark, folk-rock anthem. Said Sara, also known as Devid Benson, is a special-ed teacher at a public high school by day and a folk-rock musician by night. Said Sara saw a burst of success in 2023 as he made a live debut in four countries. Each of Said Sara’s tracks has clear 70’s singer-songwriter influences, and for Benson metal and punk music runs in his blood. Although he began writing dark, stripped-down hymns in the ’90s, Benson made his songwriting debut with a self-titled EP in 2020 and has had the ball rolling since.

“Then There You Are” was released on June 28th and is a musical exploration of the messages the living receive from passed loved ones. Said Sara urges us to accept their guidance. The song’s lyrics are raw and vulnerable and Benson’s vocals are a perfect expression of the ups and downs of life that he sings about. Musically, “Then There You Are” is an acoustic guitar-led track. Benson’s vocals and the guitar create a DIY feel, a testament to his folk-rock roots. The music of Said Sara is Benson’s genuine expression of his musical and psychological personality, and “Then There You Are” is nothing short of that.
