FEATURE
Queer singer RØSES is a US-based songwriter originally from the UK. RØSES being a queer artist uses her creativity to help those who are trying to find their place in life to do so with ease; they also inspire others like them to embrace their sexuality without fear of what society thinks. RØSES makes a statement for inclusion and represents those like her. RØSES’ latest single, "Larvae," is perhaps their most personal and intense work to date, which tackles the intolerance they faced growing up under abusive parents. “Larvae” resonates with a melodious tune that is filled with hypnotic sounds, a haunting melody, and intense lyrics that highlight the pain experienced from old wounds inflicted upon them by their intolerant parents.
The single is relatable to those who feel silenced by their past by offering them a voice to express their emotions. As someone who grew up with abusive parents, the serene sound and emotional vocals speak directly to my soul, revisiting old memories of parents wanting you in a mold you don't fit in, wanting you but not all of you, wanting you to fulfill their dreams and not yours, not thinking about how we feel instead, more focused on how they feel, and failing to accept the differences in ambitions. “Larvae" is not just a relatable single; it is an indication of RØSES’ commitment to telling real-life stories that may be difficult to tell but need to be heard using raw emotions and raw lyrics to tell their story. RØSES atmospheric soundscape/emotional melodious single “Larvae” is beautifully written and relatable for young and old listeners.
