Each Measure Feature: Occupation:Baby

FEATURE

Occupation:Baby is an up-and-coming artist in the synth rock/pop scene. Hailing from Cambridgeshire, UK, Occupation:Baby debuted in 2021 with “All Damn Night," an indie song about unrequited love. That was followed by “Scissors” in 2022, and then "Lights,” which was just released on August 16, 2024. He has been recording tons of records from metal to synthwave and is ready to release a set of music videos for the next chapter in his musical journey.

“Lights” opens with chilling vocals, a somber synth, and a calm guitar riff. As it progresses, catchy drums jump in, and it picks up with a simple yet groovy bass to accompany the vocals, synth, and percussion. The guitar licks are strategically implemented to complement the vocals, keeping the movement of the song alive. The lyrics of this tune are vague, but perhaps they were intentionally made that way to encourage open interpretations and reflections from the listener. There appear to be themes of living in the present and being determined to avoid regret, despite failure. Listeners who enjoy calm yet interesting songs with contemporary instrumentation are likely to enjoy "Lights.”
