FEATURE

Ready for the release of her concept album, “Between Two Worlds,” is London-based artist NELDA. The unique project uses a series of collaborations with foreign songwriters living in London to explore themes of voluntary displacement. Each song captures the emotional journey of leaving home, arriving in a new county, and settling into a new life. These themes reflect the diverse experiences of many people, which will be relatable for a lot of listeners. The album is a creative result of NELDA’s research, with each track co-written based on interviews.

The concept of “Between Two Worlds” is to take listeners on an emotional journey through stages of relocation. The album opens with "Everything is Scary," capturing the fear of leaving home, written with Italian songwriter Viola Ugolini. It progresses through themes of belonging, starting anew, and finding home. These themes are evident in tracks like "Not a Bad Thing,” written with Brazilian Thiago De Sá Jorge, and "Heartache,” written with Bangladeshi Hasib Sunny. The album concludes with "No Place Like Home," a song about feeling at home, co-written with Nigerian songwriter Tunday Akintan. Available on all major streaming platforms, "Between Two Worlds" invites listeners to experience the emotional landscape of displacement and settlement, offering a poignant reflection on the universal search for home and identity.
