THE INTERVIEW

What song or moment in time sparked your passion for music?
There wasn’t a particular moment in time that sparked my passion for music. I’ve had it since I first touched the keys on a small organ that used to be in the house I grew up in. I remember playing small tunes on it by ear, and that’s when my parents knew that they had to sign me up for piano lessons.

If you had to create a Mount Rushmore of inspiration, what four individuals molded the artist you are today?

The four individuals in my Mount Rushmore of inspiration would be Lady Gaga, Danny Elfman, Elton John, and Tyler Joseph!

How does your creative process work from the moment you develop the idea to the completion of the record?
My creative process comes in random bursts of inspiration. I tend to write an instrumental piece first, and then wait a few days to come up with lyrics that fit the melody and ambience of the song. It’s kind of like a puzzle, I keep adding bits and pieces to it until it becomes a whole piece of art.

As for this release, who is the producer and what about the production moved you?

I produce and record all of the instrumentation and vocals for my music, and once I have all of the stems I typically find a professional audio engineer to mix the final product. For The Best, I brought the song to Wicked Squid Studios in Rochester, NY (my hometown) for a professional mix and master. I couldn’t be happier with it!

When it comes to the songwriting on this record, what is the message you want to get across to your listeners?

The message that I want to get across to my listeners with The Best is quite plain and simple. “Don’t wait for the good things to come your way. You’ll need to find them yourself.” You need to work hard to get what you want, and you can’t just sit still and wait for good things to fall onto your lap. Life is short, and you need to be your best!
