Southern Israeli Artist Gives Us A “Permit” Into A Sonic Experience
THE ARTIST
Leaor Adler, also known as Lamedd, is an Israeli musician, music producer and visual artist from a rural part of Southern Israel. After taking time to study for a bachelor's degree in comparative religion in Jerusalem, Lamedd returned to making music in 2022 with the EP “Outset.” His style is a unique blend of Experimental Electronic/IDM, Noise, Ambient and Avant-Garde genres. Now, he has released his instrumental EP “Permit”—the beginning of expressive, experimental and deconstructed electronic music. Lamedd states that creating “Permit” allowed him to reconcile the internal contradiction between being a gay man and being a drummer.
THE MUSIC
Lamedd's EP "Permit" starts off with a daunting tone that build anticipation as we make our way through the project. He expresses unbridled emotions without any filters; letting his music scream, wail, or cry whenever it feels necessary. From pulsing impacts and stabs to a bare landscape, this artist utilizes sound and movement in a unique way to create an intriguing sequence throughout the project. The song titles alone tell a story of obscurity, evoking feelings of confusion that indirectly cries out for “Mercy'' in the beginning. The project gradually evolves into clarity and strength by the end of the project. With his last song "The Hunted," it feels like a powerful realization has been reached - one that marks the dawn of courage and insight. “Permit” is Lamedd's third project and it is available now on streaming platforms. Currently, he’s hard at work crafting his fourth project.
We’re excited for future sonic experiences by Lamedd.
