THE INTERVIEW

What song or moment in time sparked your passion for music?
I have vivid memories of watching Hannah Montana on TV when i was a kid and remember thinking how cool that would be, and that i could do it too. My dad played a lot of classic rock when i was growing up and listening to Drift Away by Dobie Gray is in my early memories. I starting singing in church and at school plays and the rest is history.

If you had to create a Mount Rushmore of inspiration, what four individuals molded the artist you are today?

HAHA this is an awesome question. Taylor Swift, Stevie Nicks, Etta James, and Miley Cyrus. No doubt.

How does your creative process work from the moment you develop the idea to the completion of the record?

It’s different every time but the words usually hit me first. Most of the time they come with a melody and i go from there. The hardest part for me is articulating the actual music, i work with some really amazing producers that do a phenomenal job of helping me bring my ideas to life.

As for this release, who is the producer and what about the production moved you?

My good friend Fabio Campedelli did this record with me. We did a single a few months back called Next Ex. I went out to LA in October to get in the studio and we made this one. We wanted something dark and sexy but still fun. I love taking a tough topic and turning it into a song you can dance to!

When it comes to the songwriting on this record, what is the message you want to get across to your listeners?

I wrote this song fresh out of a long term relationship with someone i really really loved. When i wrote this i wrote it to myself and to the woman i want to become. It symbolizes knowing your worth and being a strong woman, i hope that is the message that comes across.
