Each Measure Feature: Grace Kinter

FEATURE

Grace Kinter breathes a new life into Los Angeles’ music scene with her smooth, sultry, soulful vocals in her third EP “Two Fold.” Singer-songwriter Kinter has been in the music industry for ten years, yet her passion for music extends far before then. With the help of her Gypsy-Jazz guitar-loving father, she began singing at the age of nine. Her father introduced her to vocal legends Nina Simone and Aretha Franklin, influences that are clear in Kinter’s discography. Given her undeniable talent, Kinter has been widely praised by publications including Vocal Radio and Currant Jam Publishing– even being chosen as a Studio Resident Finalist by Pirate Studios.

“Two Fold” is a perfect picture of Kinter’s talent: it is lyrically vulnerable, delivered in a soft, smooth manner backed by complex instrumentation. Released July 18th and produced by DJ and Keys player Brenden Cabrera from Chicago, the record’s five tracks touch on ideas of growth and acceptance. Lyrically Kinter sings about finally being ready to let someone in after the suffering, and healing she has endured. Overall, the EP creates a relaxed atmosphere and touches on bossa nova and house genres that will get your head bopping to the beat. To top it all off, Kinter’s sultry vocals encapsulate your ears in a velvety embrace.
