Each Measure Feature: Deer Park Avenue
FEATURE
In a blazing alternative pop single titled “Crucible,” indie rock sister duo Deer Park Avenue has created a genre-bending, electrifying rock anthem about resilience and human perseverance. Deer Park’s members include Sarah Snyder on vocals and guitar and Steph Snyder on drums and vocals. Though Deer Park began in a garage in California, the sisters are now based in Munich, Germany. Their live debut was at Austin’s SXSW and they are now Europe’s fastest-growing indie group. Deer Park’s debut album “Conscious Mess” in 2020 started a successful roll for the sisters as they continue releasing unique music that “break the rules of how a certain genre ‘should’ sound,” according to Sarah. “Crucible” is just a taste of the band’s bright future.
Released on August 2nd, “Crucible” is the first single and title track of their sophomore EP to be released on September 6th. The single was produced with GRAMMY-winning producer Reto Peter and together they have produced a fiery, empowering anthem of perseverance. Lyrically, “Crucible” is about finding the light in life’s trials and tribulations. The sister’s vocals are full and powerful. Melodically, “Crucible” is an alt-pop and grunge fusion with a sprinkle of ambient sounds that build to a cinematic finale. The sisters wrote “Crucible” to encourage listeners to keep fighting and the lyrics and melody do exactly that.
