THE INTERVIEW

If you had to create a Mount Rushmore of inspiration, what four individuals molded the artist you are today?

I would say Anderson.Paak, Bruno Mars, Leon Bridges are up there for sure. Then I would add Charlie Puth. These four gentlemen have inspired the music I've been creating over the last few years in different ways. They all have a unique style and presence and provide a certain something that draws you into their world. One important thing to note about each of them is they were not afraid to evolve creatively. I admire them for that.

Were there any personal experiences or stories that influenced the creation of the music video, and if so, how did they shape the final product?

When I sat back and really listened to the record. It tells a story of admiration and appreciation of a beautiful woman inside and out. I wanted the visual to kind of show case that. I wanted it to be less about me and more about her and provide sort of a fantasy of what it would be like to be apart of her world.

I think we all have a story about someone who's presence almost stops time and you can't help yourself but stare or get pulled in by their energy. Every detail about them almost leaves you stuck and speechless. I wanted to try to bring that to life in the video alittle bit.

What was the most rewarding aspect of making the music video, and what message do you hope viewers take away from it?

I got to step outside my comfort zone alot! Singing, dancing and just exploring my creativity visually. It all let me know there are no limits to what I can do when I am inspired and the moment presents itself. I hope the viewers can see that and can find their own inspiration to be creative.

Can you share any interesting anecdotes about the song's development with your co-writers or producers?

This song was originally written with someone else in mind. When that didnt pan out, I didnt know what to do with it. As I sat with it more and more, I started to ask myself if I can pull it off. Can I possibly sing it, record it, and perform it the way I pictured someone else doing in my head? It was completely different then what I was use to doing for myself. Once I worked up the courage and took the necessary steps to get it right, I said why not? I had no expectations for what it would do, but I was having fun doing it and people seem to be please with the outcome.

When it comes to the songwriting on this record, what is the message you want to get across to your listeners?

I wanted to paint a picture for the listener. Take them on a journey that was easy to Visualize and understand. I wanted whoever choose to listen to Gravitational Pull to be able to almost instantly see the beauty my eyes saw and feel how I felt in the moment. The words I choose where very important to get that cross. I didnt want to complicate the message. I don't think true admiration is complicated, I don't think lust is complicated. These thing almost just pour out of you. I think the lyrics lend to that idea here.
