Each Measure Feature: Ash Dodd

FEATURE

Ash Dodd is a singer-songwriter who is based in Crowborough, England. He brings with him indie-pop songs for every mood with heartfelt lyrics, catchy riffs, earworm melodies, and cathartic production taking inspiration from the Gen-Z experience and an intense empathy for those around them.

Ash unveils a folk sound with great appeal in his newly released EP, “Songs That Make My Friends Cry,” stirring emotions as it resonates across emotions, whether soft and personal or gold and overwhelming. The opening track, “Memories,” flaunts the artist’s vocal strength and gives emotions to his expression amidst great piano and acoustic accompanied by Hand Luis's soft, subtle vocals.

The third track, “Always You,” is a deeply personal reflection on a loved one fused with confessions. Though slow and soft, the track isn't out of balance as it connects deeply with listeners and gives listeners a way of expression. The other two tracks on the EP, “Make it Last” and “Like You,” prove to be similarly successful without a tonal shift, highlighting his ability to maintain consistency.

“Like You” opens up with stings that instantly captivate one even before the first word in the lyrics is said. The tracks in the EP are a reflection of the EP’s title. Ash is impressive with this, proving beyond doubt that he is a gem in the music industry and a gem of indie folk pop.
