Each Measure Feature: Ambrosius

“Pathways” is a 2024 release by the genre-bending Norwegian band Ambrosius. Ambrosiussigned with FAJo in 2023 and released their debut album, “Pathways, in 2023. They plan on recording their second album in 2025.

“Pathways” starts with Shadow Logic, which blends pop rock with an almost folk style of sound. It is a truly upbeat song that will have your foot tapping along before you even realize it. This is followed by Broken Bones. I find it hard to really assign a specific genre to their sound most of the time, but this adds to the quality of their unique music. Broken Bones is driven forward by powerful vocals that flawlessly transition in tones—a truly wonderful song that never gets old.

Next, Align begins with a very pleasing melody that introduces vocals that are a trademark of this group. Following this is Noel’s Caravan, which is an interlude leading into Open Tab. Open Tab shows the band’s ability to comfortably explore different sounds. The next track, Goodbye, is a very upbeat song that will likely bring those who enjoy dancing to their feet quickly.

Hollywood Babeism is one of the tracks that is sure to win Ambrosius more than a few fans, especially those who dream of a career on the silver screen. Then we have Nancy Tales. This song I imagine will be a fast favorite of listeners with its deep beat and low vocals—it’s just a really good song. Razor Burn: this is my favorite track on the album. Something about the lyrics and the sound just has me sold completely. I am definitely a fan.

The final three tracks begin with A Colm Sunset, which pulls you in from the very start. The roughness in certain parts of the song is a testament to the band’s ability to conquer different sounds. After this is Star’s Archive. This track is one of the softer songs on the album and more proof of the group's ability to proficiently explore new soundscapes.

Last, but not least, is Anach Cuain, with its blend of traditional Irish folk and modern sounds. This track truly displays the talent that Ambrosius brings to the industry!
