From the hymnal intro to the funky beat that follows, “Never Give Up” is an energetic new single from Wreckless Strangers. A six-piece group from San Francisco, Wreckless Strangers have collaborated with artists like Elvis Costello and Bonnie Raitt. There’s a lot of talent within and surrounding Wreckless Strangers, from the lead vocals by Amber Morris and lead guitarist David Noble to the Grammy-winning production by Dave Way. With so much talent, it only makes sense that the group is on tour and set to perform at Brewsters Beer Garden on September 19th. “Never Give Up” is just a taste of their upcoming EP, “Blue Sky Fantasy,” and fits right in with their genre-blending style. 

The way they combine rock, funk, and blues captures an older sound while keeping it modern. The song itself has a great message on staying resilient, with encouraging lyrics and an upbeat instrumental. Lead vocalist Morris discussed that “Never Give Up” is about finding the strength to push forward when faced with desperate times. I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that’s a message almost everyone can relate to.
