FEATURE

Based out of Melbourne, Sunset Salore has unveiled her new single, “Call It,” which premiered exclusively through AAA Backstage. As the first look at Sunset’s upcoming EP, “Love Kills the Monsters,” which debuts later this year, the alternative pop track should get fans excited. Salore finds inspiration from artists like Meg Mac, Baker Boy, and Florence & The Machine to create her unique sound. Since her single debut, “Gold,” in 2019, Salore has immersed audiences across Melbourne in her beautiful, haunting live performances. Motivated by a wave of creativity, Salore recorded the EP and promises that “Love Kills the Monsters” brings more of her heartfelt lyrics and haunting melodies. If “Call It” is any indication, that’s a promise Salore is going to keep.

Showcasing her talents as a singer/songwriter, Salore’s track captures the crucial moment of deciding to end a nowhere relationship after recognizing your own self-worth. This powerful anthem tackles the micro-moments in a relationship that add up over time, leading to that pivotal moment of being done. Through her raw vocals and beautiful lyrics, Salore conveys the empowerment and assertiveness that come with the realization to end things, which many listeners will be able to relate to. It’s a strong, decisive message that Salore drew on previous relationships and personal experiences to create. Challenging the societal norms of relationship labels and placing a focus on treating each other better, “Call It” is a great taste of what’s to come on the upcoming EP.
