If you had to create a Mount Rushmore of inspiration, what four individuals molded the artist you are today?
The clark sisters - this is the gospel that raised me.
Tina Turner - the performance inspired me.
Nina Simone - the tone, the unapologetic essence.
Shirley Caesar- the sound, the confidence my roots (gospel).
Can you share the story or theme behind the lyrics of the new song?
Trigger is about realizing that the toxic cycle i was in had everything to do with ME!
When delving into the creation of your recent release, could you elaborate on the collaborative efforts and the impactful roles of the producers, co-writers, or engineers?
It was easy.. when i seek collaborators I seek authenticity, passion, and a sharp unique sound. I am blessed to have long time collaborators that possess these elements.
Are there any behind-the-scenes anecdotes or interesting stories related to the recording process or songwriting of this record?
Trigger started in my friend/collaborator's home in brooklyn, I had the lyrics and melody. I sung them to him and we spent one afternoon finding the right chords!
What personal or artistic goals are driving your creative direction for the next chapter of your musical journey?
My goal is to bring the listener inside my life/story. This album will dive into my adolescence.
