THE INTERVIEW

What song or moment in time sparked your passion for music?
For me (Jacque) I would have to say watching my mom play the piano. Secondly, my sister took me to the Lilith Fair and when this younger artist got up and performed my sister looked to me and said “I could picture you doing this”. Really stuck with me.

Aaron says: His dad playing singalong songs on nylon string guitar when he was a kid.

If you had to create a Mount Rushmore of inspiration, what four individuals molded the artist you are today?

We would have to say: Little Dragon, Radiohead, Tame Impala and Bonobo.

How does your creative process work from the moment you develop the idea to the completion of the record?
Typically Aaron will route through a track / beat / idea and I (Jacque) will layer on vocals and we pass the track back and forth till completion. Sometimes we completely revise works midway through and sometimes songs just come to us.

As for this release, who is the producer and what about the production moved you?

Aaron is the producer on all of our tracks. Besides the claps Aaron came up with the best harmonies on this track. Super fun to sing.

When it comes to the songwriting on this record, what is the message you want to get across to your listeners?

We were asked to write this song for a wellness podcast called “Every Body Talks” by Jenn Giamo and Lori Schulweis. They were seeking a theme song for the show. We were so honored and so stoked to write this for the show. The whole premise of the tune is about body positivity, and we wanted to be something that people would want to dance / move their body to. Additionally, we wanted to incorporate the podcast title “Every Body Talks” so I went bananas on the chorus repeating the title and luckily it worked out.
