THE INTERVIEW

1. What song or moment in time sparked your passion for music?

I loved being on stage from a really young age. A moment that sparked my complete desire to be an artist, was a music teacher who thought I wasn't good enough to be chosen for a provincial choir, but when I made it, that proved to me I should ignore the naysayers! Over 20 years later and still rocking out! :>

2. If you had to create a Mount Rushmore of inspiration, what four individuals molded the artist you are today?

Barbra Streisand, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey & Luther Vandross. (I know...that's five!!!

3. How does your creative process work from the moment you develop the idea to the completion of the record?

When inspiration hits, I literally have the urge to write it down, sing it out or jump on my keys to form the shape of the song. It's really explosive :> The first memory of what inspired me and what I felt carries through right into production. Staying true to the intention of that initial writing is everything to me! It has to be from the heart.

4. As for this release, who is the producer and what about the production moved you?

A great friend of mine, Stoyan Stoyanov is the producer of "Like That". Ensuring each line had space to breathe and then compliment each other as they move through the song. We had a real sensitivity in the delivery of each instrument. The strings and keys surrounding the many vocals and harmonies to accentuate the tender lyrics, with a barely audible kick...that's where we found the magic. It's such a hearty song!

5. When it comes to the songwriting on this record, what is the message you want to get across to your listeners?

My message is always; love is all we need to get by! Keep doing all you do with all your heart. <3
