Each Measure Feature: Jason Heeter
FEATURE
The blues are still alive and well in the USA! One artist contributing to its success is Jason Heeter. A lifelong musician, he started out singing at his local church and eventually went on to study music in college, performing as a multi-instrumentalist and making a name for himself during his undergraduate years. Heeter already has two big-time projects under his belt: “Deuce & Heeter: The ‘79 Sessions," an eclectic collaboration album made alongside Heeter’s colleague Deuce Denninger, and “Staring at the Sun," a folksy feel-good EP. Inspired by blues legends such as Bill Withers and the Grateful Dead, Heeter is working on a new record with his band, The A.C.’s. A single from the record, entitled “Just Fine," was released on July 26, 2024.
“Just Fine” is an uplifting bluesy pop track about moving forward in life and taking both the good and the bad on that journey. It features tasteful guitar licks, melodic and groovy bass, simple and catchy percussion, and a Southern-esque vocal line with ear-tickling harmonies sprinkled in. The song’s structure is simple and satisfying, and it features a bridge towards the end of the track that ties the whole thing together nicely. Fans of poppy blues music, especially that of John Mayer and Eric Clapton, are encouraged to blast this feel-good tune on full volume as the summer comes to a close.
