THE INTERVIEW

If you had to create a Mount Rushmore of inspiration, what four individuals molded the artist you are today?

I would say Bon Scott from AC/DC, Janis Joplin, Amy Lee from Evanescence and Audislave.

Were there any specific experiences or events in your life that influenced the song's lyrics?

Absolutely. At the time I thought I was writing about a specific person and situation that I was in. But upon further reflection, I realised it was actually about myself. I was 90 days sober and trying to tell myself to get my shit together otherwise I wouldn't be here much longer.

Can you share any interesting anecdotes about the song's development with your co-writers or producers?

I first wrote this song in 2019 in Los Angeles, CA with Brian Howes and Jason Van Poederooyen. We wrote a super hard/heavy version which was released exactly a year ago. After sitting with the song and lyrics, I wanted to create a version that was more in line with what I felt the song represented- which is the reimagined version you hear now.

What was the biggest takeaway or lesson you learned while creating this song?

Patience is a virtue... haha. And that one song can have so many different meanings/layers.

How has your recent growth as an artist influenced the direction of your future work?

I feel that I have matured as a songwriter a Artist- especially since the pandemic. I definitely feel things on a deeper level than I used to.
