Finding Balance in a Digital World Through DG Adams New Single "Screens"

THE ARTIST

DG Adams is a Vancouver-based multi-instrumentalist musician and writer/lyricist who records his interpretation of alternative folk music. He combines classic rock, folk, and classical influences with socially conscious and philosophical lyrics. His interest in music began early in life, as his mother took him to symphony concerts and his family had an impressive record collection that included various genres. As a teenager, he was drawn to the likes of Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, and Bob Dylan. Although he pursued acting for many years, he never lost his passion for music. In 2011, he produced his first album, "Feminine Endings," and has since released four more albums, an EP, and five standalone singles, which have been well-received critically. His latest single, "Screens," marks the beginning of a new chapter in his musical career.

DG Adams- Screens

THE MUSIC

DG Adams' latest single, "Screens," is a poignant reflection on our obsession with technology and how it has taken over our lives. The simple instrumentation of soft folk with electric guitar and piano chords perfectly complements the song's contemplative mood. DG's signature blend of classic rock, folk, and classical influences is evident in the song's sound, which is both melodic and thought-provoking.

With socially conscious, often philosophical lyrics, DG gently nudges us to put down our screens and experience the world around us directly. He reminds us of the life-affirming wonders and unexpected wisdom that we may miss out on if we are always glued to our devices. In a YouTube video where he talks about the inspiration behind the song, DG candidly shares how people struggle with being addicted to screens and the negative impact it can have on people’s lives. Through his music, he encourages us to recognize the problem and take steps towards a healthier relationship with technology.

"Screens" is a beautiful and timely reminder to unplug and be present in the moment. DG Adams' gentle and introspective approach to the topic makes the song relatable and inspiring. It is a must-listen for anyone who has ever felt trapped by the digital world and wants to reclaim their sense of wonder and awe.

THE LYRICS

“Go outside

A screen is not a sky

The net

Is not so wide

But you’re tangled in it nonetheless”
