Who is Dax? For most of us, Dax doesn't need an introduction, as he is an artist we are all familiar with. His latest release, “Soldier,” featuring Tom MacDonald, is a powerful and introspective track that digs deep into themes of resilience, mental health, and determination, which is also filled with praises for manhood. The song, which alludes to males as soldiers, goes above and beyond its metaphor to depict a relatable reality, making it one of Dax's best works to date and a must-listen. 

The lyrics, recorded in Missoula, Montana, represent a personal journey distinguished by straightforward resilience and tenacity, highlighting everyday hardships and battles over hurdles such as self-doubt and inner turmoil that men face. Highlighting the challenges faced in society, the track is filled with praise and motivation for men all around the world, likening them to soldiers who keep fighting and pushing on against the odds, even when it becomes uncomfortable to do so. Just like soldiers, men are looked up to in society, whether as social workers, brothers, husbands, or fathers. 

A large highlight of the track is the collaboration between Dax and Tom. They put their best in this song as we experience a seamless synergy between the two to deliver a patriotic pop-rap with lyrics that can be said to be worded clearly, perfectly layered, and flawless. The release of the song was influenced by the life circumstances at the time, which were very painful, thereby speaking to listeners who may be fighting their own battles, offering them a sense of solidarity by acknowledging their everyday struggles and assuring them that they aren't alone.
