Each Measure Feature: Dax

FEATURE

Canadian-NIgerian rapper Dax has once again explored his country music side as he gifts his listeners yet another piece from his heart in his latest single, “Lonely Dirt Road." “Lonely Dirt Road” follows the likes of his previously released emotional country music tracks “Dear Alcohol,” “God’s Eyes,” “To Be A Man,” and “A Real Man,” to mention a few.

In “Lonely Dirt Road, Dax sheds some more light on the secretive nature of men and how they bottle up their emotions, especially negative ones, in order not to burden anyone with their problems and struggles. The soft piano and subtle drums, coupled with Dax’s brilliant emotional delivery, make “Lonely Dirt Road” an emotional trigger based on the way most men prefer to drive around or take a walk to contemplate their problems undisturbed.

In the music video for “Lonely Dirt Road,” which was released on the same day as the song, it’s clear that Dax was sure to make his message in the song even clearer through the video. Blending touching scenes with warm colour grading and overall scenery coupled with the soft instruments, vocals, and mastery-level storytelling, the video is one to make viewers shed tears. I particularly enjoyed the way the metaphorical sentence “If these walls could talk” was brought to life in the music video.

Dax has proven time and again that he doesn’t just make music for the fun of it but rather to tell real-life stories, communicate, and connect with his audience on a much deeper level. “Lonely Dirt Road” is an anthem for men all over the world. A reminder that they are not alone in their struggles, and a must-listen for anyone who likes good music.
