Bright Tree Village: More Than Just Music - Advocates for the Marginalized

THE ARTIST

Bright Tree Village is a San Francisco Bay Area-based songwriting team comprised of Jeff August and Tim Leehane. Rooted in the spirit of MTV Unplugged, this dad rock duo crafts a distinctive sound that blends soaring harmonies, poetic lyrics, and breezy chord arrangements. Drawing inspiration from the 90s coffeehouse scene, their music resonates with a nostalgic charm while maintaining a fresh and contemporary appeal. Beyond their musical endeavors, Bright Tree Village embraces a greater purpose of caring for people and advocating for those who feel marginalized.

Jeff August takes on the role of lead vocalist, infusing each performance with heartfelt emotion and captivating storytelling. Tim Leehane showcases his multi-instrumental talents, handling guitar, bass, keyboard, and providing additional vocals. Their collaboration began within San Francisco's Balanced Breakfast music community when Tim stepped in as a stand-in bass player for one of Jeff August's Ego Trip shows. During the lockdown, the duo found solace in their shared passion for music, leading them to create a whirlwind of Jeff August Ego Trip singles and ultimately establishing their own dad rock duo, Bright Tree Village.

THE MUSIC

"The Spark" is a self-help rock anthem that speaks to those who have experienced feelings of being othered or ostracized due to their chosen way of life. Bright Tree Village channels their music as a source of empowerment and solidarity for individuals who feel like outsiders. The song delivers a fusion of post-punk folk rock, seamlessly blending acoustic and electric guitars to create a dynamic sonic landscape.

Recorded, mixed, and mastered in Tim's basement studio, "The Spark" captures the essence of Bright Tree Village's energetic and introspective sound. The track underwent a laborious process, with moments where the band contemplated shelving it. However, their unwavering dedication and belief in the song eventually led to its completion, resulting in a powerful and resonant composition. With its memorable melodies, thought-provoking lyrics, and the band's signature harmonies, "The Spark" showcases Bright Tree Village's commitment to creating impactful music that uplifts and inspires their listeners.
