FEATURE

Debuting his first release since 2019, AZRAEYIL hopes to strike an emotional chord with “War.” Officially released on all major platforms as of April 14th, “War” will transport listeners to a time of life where things didn’t seem to make sense. Clarity in this confusing era and choosing brighter sides is the relatable theme. Lyrics are delivered with silky vocals. The Bridgeport, Connecticut native approaches his newest single with grace and an air of newfound wisdom.

Light and airy with gentle percussion, “War” begins with “There’s a winter brewing, looming over my head.” The imagery of a young man lost in thought on an overcast day comes to mind. Lyrics go on to paint a picture of an old man saying, “What, are you blind?” and asking him to look up, to “open your eyes.” The silver linings of perspective and wisdom from an old man propel the transition of realization in the young man.

“There’s a war, there’s a war; I don’t want to fight anymore.” This lyric is such a powerful declaration. It is the recognition of an emotional plateau and an assertion to change it.

The song is an emotional call to action that can be perceived in many different ways. To me, it resonates with a hesitancy to move forward, either with a scary goal or chapter of new life experience. It’s a “war” of the senses and emotional pull in various directions. “War” allowed me to relate with similar feelings of being stuck or overwhelmed by a situation but choosing to let go and let it be. “War” is an incredible testament to the human spirit for overcoming grief, depression, or just a plain old bad day. AZRAEYIL’s style and storyline have piqued my interest in what is to come. I am positive that further emotionally charged lyricism will arise. “There’s a summer fading, waiting for my time to shine.” AZRAEYIL’s time to shine is now!
