Each Measure Feature: Arjay Smith

FEATURE

Welcome to the world of Arjay Smith’s instrumental EP, “Old Man Rookie Instrumentals. Pt. 1: Fives Up,” a land full of classic boom bap grooves and modern tones. Arjay Smith's states his intention to “heal the world” with his music and plans to get there through melodic dialog. A standout for us is the opening track, Afta-U. Its ambient feel, stabs, and laid-back pocket really send you into a place of serenity. Every track retains his essence but offers a new rhythm and feeling that is unmatched. The use of samples is eloquently put together, and the passion behind his craft is on full display. “Boom bap’tism” closes out the project with the gritty New York hip-hop flavor you’d find in the origins of where it all started. If you’re a fan of instrumental music, make sure you sit down and give this EP a spin!
