THE INTERVIEW

If you had to create a Mount Rushmore of inspiration, what four individuals molded the artist you are today?

I would say the four individuals that molded the artist I am today would be Matt Healy, Jesse Rutherford, Tyler Joseph and Gerard Way.

Were there any personal experiences or stories that influenced the creation of the music video, and if so, how did they shape the final product?

The video was inspired by 80s Film Noir. Some great American classic movies like Blade Runner really helped shape the final product. Visually, the cinematography was inspired by 90s Animes such as Akira and Cowboy Bebop.

What was the most rewarding aspect of making the music video, and what message do you hope viewers take away from it?

The most rewarding aspect of making the music video was being able to capture Montreal’s unique architecture and scenery. The video itself doesn’t have a specific message. It’s intended to be open-ended, so the viewer can interpret it however they choose.

When it comes to the songwriting on this record, what is the message you want to get across to your listeners?

This song discusses the idea of sanctuary, or finding in a specific place -- in this case, a cherry blossom tree. The song is used as a reminder that things get better, even if you're in a place where it feels difficult or impossible.
