Tempo Talks: A Conversation with Angie Bohlke

THE RELEASE

Introducing Angie Bohlke, the genuine Canadian country artist whose soulful, heartwarming music draws inspiration from her life's journey and the likes of country legends Trisha Yearwood, Lorrie Morgan, and Patty Loveless. With over 20 years of performing experience, Angie is set to unveil her deeply personal debut album on November 17, 2023, an emotional journey through life's twists and turns, all delivered with an authenticity that resonates in every note she sings.

Angie Bohlke's latest single, "Just One Look," was released on October 13th and is a touching song written by Angie in conjunction with Ina Earle and wonderfully produced by Clint Curtis at Sevenview Studios. Angie brilliantly summarizes the heart of the song in her own words: “Just One Look is about finding who you are with the help of that someone special. All it took was just one look and my whole world changed. I was able to be who I always wanted to be and be loved how I wanted to be loved. Just one look and my world changed.” This song immerses the listener in a profound experience of love and self-discovery.

THE INTERVIEW

If you had to create a Mount Rushmore of inspiration, what four individuals molded the artist you are today?

I would have to say my grandmother, Jean Greene, who was also a performer. She always supported me and was definitely my number one fan. She came from Scotland to Newfoundland as a war bride when she was only 18 years old. She played piano and was a fabulous vocalist. She brought so much music to my life growing up.
My partner Ina, who was co-writer of four songs on the album, she was a huge inspiration behind these songs, and someone who helped me find my strength to release my first album. My childhood music teacher, and lifelong friend, Yvonne Milly. She has always been a great supporter of my music from such an early age when she first put me on a stage. She saw my potential and pushed me to do my best.
I have to say, my fan base, those who have followed my music over the years. We all need support and I’m forever grateful for the enormous amount of support I receive.

Were there any specific experiences or events in your life that influenced the song's lyrics?

Yes of course, it’s about finding that special someone, your person, falling in love for the first time after a lifetime of not knowing and finally having everything you’ve spent a lifetime longing for, all wrapped up in one person, your person and it instantly started with just one look.

Can you share any interesting anecdotes about the song's development with your co-writers or producers?

The antidote for this song would have to be finally falling in love and feeling whole with your true love after a lifetime of never really feeling much at all…the antidote for my lifetime of loneliness was finding my one true love.

What was the biggest takeaway or lesson you learned while creating this song?

The biggest takeaway or lesson I learned while creating this song was to never waste or lose out on another precious moment and live your life for yourself, and not for others, or the way others expect you to.

How has your recent growth as an artist influenced the direction of your future work?

It has given me more confidence to be myself, and to express my truths in my original songs. I now feel free to share a side to my music I have never done before, it really shows the deeper side of me and the changes I have made in the last few years.
